About us

Built for the towns big companies skip

The big directories are made for big cities. In a town of 8,000 people, they show a handful of national chains and miss the family shops everyone actually uses. We set out to fix that, one Main Street at a time.

Why we do this

When you spend money with a local business, more of it stays in your town. It pays a neighbor, it sponsors the Little League team, it keeps the lights on downtown. Small Town Pages exists so neighbors can find those businesses fast, and so the owners can be found without paying big city prices.

Today we cover 102 small Texas towns and 20,478 businesses. We pick towns of roughly 3,000 to 35,000 people that are not suburbs of a big city.

Where the listings come from

  • OpenStreetMap, the free public map that local people keep up to date.
  • Texas license records (TDLR), the state list of licensed trades like electricians and air conditioning techs.
  • Texas Comptroller business records, for registered local businesses the maps miss. We never show the address from these records, because it can be an owner's home.
  • Owners and neighbors, who claim a listing or add a missing one. A person checks every new business before it goes up.

How we keep it honest

  • Every listing shows the date it was last checked.
  • Locally owned businesses come first. National chains are shown after them.
  • We do not post star ratings or sell reviews. We do not rank anyone as "best".
  • Paid spots are always marked Featured, and there are only 3 per category in each town.

How we pay the bills

Every business gets a free listing, forever. Owners who want more can choose Pro at $49 a month for photos and quote requests, or Premium at $99 a month for a Featured spot. We never sell your personal information. See the plans.
